Achieving Optimal Results with Your Spray Gun!

These 10 stages are your roadmap to achieve optimal spray outcomes. The concise action list will assist you in avoiding delays and getting off to a great start.

Inspect the paint manufacturer’s guidelines. This will indicate which tip (nozzle) to use and the appropriate power setting for the spray. This ensures a smooth, impeccable coating and minimises unnecessary paint consumption and spray gun spatter.

Use the suitable spray gun for the task: heavy industrial paint won’t work well in a spray gun designed for consumers.

Read the instruction manual. It contains numerous valuable tips, potential solutions, and startup instructions. It also includes cleaning guidelines for reusing the equipment.

If a wall has been freshly plastered, we recommend applying a coat of primer first. All paint sprayers can handle primers, as long as you apply the correct settings and possibly a filter/nozzle.

If you run your fingers over a wall you’re about to paint, and you feel flakes, make sure to remove the plaster or similar substance before spraying.

Mask everything thoroughly. When using a spray gun, overspray like roller spatters can occur. Mask off adjacent areas to the spray surface, at least 25 cm wide, and if necessary, cover the floor and windows. Spray painting is a fast process, and proper preparation/masking is essential.

Ready to begin? First, test the spray pattern on a piece of cardboard, paper, plywood, etc. Is the flow rate excessive? Adjust the spray gun before starting to spray the wall.

Ensure the nozzle is 15-20 cm away from the wall and hold the spray gun as vertically as possible. Begin making passes up and down from the floor (if masked off), spraying with smooth, even movements. As you reach the top of each pass, move down in the next (overlapping) pass. Release the trigger at the top of each pass and begin moving the gun before starting to spray again. This prevents paint from building up at the top or bottom of the pass.

Are you achieving even passes with no thickening at the edges? Excellent! Let the wall dry, and the result will be very pleasing.

Finished? Clean the machine thoroughly so that you can get the best performance out of it next time. Please consult the manual for cleaning instructions.
